RICHARD MacKENZIE: ‘The Olympics are just another Ponzi scheme that we are all going to pay for’

OLYMPICS COMING AT A COST TO B. C. RESIDENTS

I have come to detest the Olympics.

This morning I read that the B. C. government has frozen grants to the arts and amateur sports.

Kevin Krueger, minister for toursim, culture and the arts, whose job it is to fight for those organizations, is quoted as stressing that the “government’s priorities are health, education and social services.”

What rot!  The government’s priority is the 2010 Olympics, full stop.

How do I know this?

First, the government told us that the criminal courts will be closed during the Games because the police will be too involved in security matters to give evidence in court.

It then informed us that elective surgeries will also be cancelled in order to insure the availability of emergency services during the games.

When you see a motorcade of Games dignitaries being escorted by a cavalry of mounted motorcylce police or hear of a dear one departing for want of heart surgery, think too about the grand poobahs and their glittering entourage.

And if you don’t think that the new harmonized tax system isn’t a deferred Olympic bailout and tax grab courtesy of the feds, then I know of a couple of unregistered “financial advisors” who would be glad to take your money.

The Olympics are just another Ponzi scheme that we are all going to pay for.
