Dear Larry:
Thanks for your input.
Nuclear subs have berthed at Ogden Point and at Naden.
The nuclear aircraft carriers like the Nimitz and Abraham Lincoln park out in deeper waters at the entrance to Esquimalt harbour, as I believe their hulls are too deep to get through that narrow passage into the Navy’s port.
The main point is to raise awareness of the use of Victoria, Esquimalt and Nanoose as nuclear ports, thus endangering and frightening locals… the Raging Grannies, Al Rycroft, the late Merve Wilkinson and others like myself were involved for many years in this Vancouver Island Peace Society campaign, complete with signs warning of NUCLEAR SHIP NOW IN HARBOUR.
I still have a huge well-made sign with that legend in my garage, and it still comes out of hiding from time to time…
Ben wrote me a private email, which I reproduced in a comment to his posting about standing for the Council at his website… but that comment has not yet been approved by Ben for publication, so I don’t think you have seen it yet.
Basically he said that he would honour existing contracts with the police.  That’s an evasion of the question, I think.
Nobody is calling for contracts to be broken.  Nobody ever does in Victoria, as all the unions the City deals with are very strong.
Not sure what you mean when you ask me ‘what’s your price?’
I will not support either Ben or Rose with my votes or money this time, if that is your question.
I will vote in Victoria, but I am hoping to be nominated to stand to be elected as a Councillor by an Oak Bay tilesetter for that Council.
I have an endorsement from Agustin Luviano Cordero, the Mexican-Canadian videographer that lives on Cabboro Bay Road.
I agree with you that buses should be free… but only to the unemployed, the homeless, those truly not able to pay, but not sure about your proposals to fund those new free riders.
The poor should not have to pay to go looking for a job, for crying out loud.
Also agree with you about LRT… way too expensive, and the sewage system… also way too expensive, and more or less window dressing that doesn’t really solve the problem, as I understand it.
Spread the word;
DEMOCRACY IS FREE IN OAK BAY!
ONLY 2 NOMINATING SIGNATURES FROM RESIDENT OAK BAY ELECTORS REQUIRED.
NO FEE REQUIRED AT ALL!
AS OPPOSED TO VICTORIA, WHERE 100 REFUNDABLE DOWN PAYMENT IS REQUIRED, AND 25 SIGNATURES OF NOMINATORS LIVING IN THE ELECTORAL DISTRICT.
IF YOU KNOW ANYBODY WHO IS THINKING ABOUT STARTING THE REVOLUTION IN OAK BAY, LET ME KNOW!
SHALOM
