Jared Giesbrecht, Green Party of Canada justice critic, Victoria candidate: ‘harm reduction… as proven strategy for effectively reducing rates of crime’… Giesbrecht, a professional doctorate student, volunteers on Harm Reduction Victoria legal committee

Jared Giesbrecht

Jared Giesbrecht graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Theology from Prairie Bible College, a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (honours) from Lethbridge University, and a J.D. in Law from Queen’s University. He is now a J.-Armand Bombardier SSHRC scholar at the University of Victoria where he is writing his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professors Jeremy Webber and James Tully. His research involves the reimagining of the central normative ideals underlying liberal democratic society (i.e., persons as free, equal, and rational). His goal is to develop an approach to legal and democratic theory that de-problematizes difference and thereby avoids the violence of homogenization.

Jared Giesbrecht is the Green Party of Canada’s Justice Critic and the candidate for Victoria, trying to take away the seat in Parliament now held by the NDP’s veteran politica, Denise Savoie.

Mr. Giesbrecht holds a number of degrees, is studying for a Doctorate and is a keen advocate of the so-called ‘harm reduction’ theory.

“He has always embraced restorative justice and harm reduction as proven strategies for effectively reducing rates of crime.” says a Green Party profile.

Jared Giesbrecht also volunteers for Harm Reduction Victoria’s legal committee.

Christian conservative voters in Victoria, concerned not to enable, but to discourage unhealthy, costly, addictive, illegal behaviours, should certainly not vote for this fanatical so-caled ‘harm reduction’ candidate.

Jared Giesbrecht

Jared Giesbrecht was born in Fort St. John and lived in northern BC for almost thirty years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in theology as well as a degree in philosophy before completing a law degree at Queen’s University.

Jared is currently completing a PhD in law at the University of Victoria with a focus upon intergovernmental relations and democratic theory. His research re-imagines the challenge of promoting democratic governance within deeply diverse and multi-national countries like Canada.

In addition to his advocacy for democratic reform, he has been serving as the Justice Critic for the Green Party of Canada since 2007. He is committed to evidence-based approaches to justice and security. He has always embraced restorative justice and harm reduction as proven strategies for effectively reducing rates of crime.

Jared lives downtown and sees homelessness and drug use every day. He is urging all levels of government to make poverty reduction and affordable housing top priorities.

He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Victoria’s LifeCycles Project Society, volunteers with the legal committee for Harm Reduction Victoria, and helps out with the Out of the Rain youth shelter downtown.

Jared works seasonally as a manager in his family-owned building supplies company and recently founded a property investment company. As a small business owner, he understands the need for fair tax measures and fiscally responsible government. He advocates for income-splitting for middle class families, lower payroll deductions for employers, and an end to corporate welfare.

Jared Giesbrecht is the nominated candidate for the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Victoria.

I understand the point about behaviors and that issue on harm reduction. I do believe in Restorative Justice. I would like to know who would be an acceptable candidate for office. It certainly isnst Denise Savoie, her office does harm to her own constituents and she needs to take a harm reductiion program and her staff as well. there are mnay ways to harm people other than drug etc so if it cause harm what is the difference and the behavior of her staff defintely illegal. Is Denise Savoie the drug of choice

Wrote a letter to the editor of the Times Colonist about a week ago, when the war started.

Deplored the fact that we don’t have a peace candidate in Victoria, nor a Peace Party.

Don’t know if the Canadian Action Party or Christian Heritage Party have candidates this time out.

Can’t find any all candidates’ meetings anywhere…

All I could find was ‘Liberal’ Globalist Causton going to the damn secret meeting with the Internationalist Rotarians… aren’t they Masons, too?

Can us non-Masons, and non-Rotarians get to talk to the ‘Liberal’ candidate in Victoria?

The idiot Rotarians are supporting the arch Globalist population reducers Bill and Melinda Gates who support the pro-abort Planned Parenthood and other racist eugenicist outfits of the most draconian kind.

I suggested in my letter to the Times Colonist editor that the war is unjust and illegal, but they are a warmongering newspaper in the tradition of their convicted founder Conrad Black, so that is probably the real reason they trashed it.

I also suggested that people should vote, but to destroy or deface the ballot.

Now I know better… this time, instead of voting for Jack, Gilles, Liz, Iggy or Steve (or their local automatons Denise, Jared, Christopher or Patrick), vote for Jesus, Peace, Spirit, Wisdom or Mercy… those are five real ‘options’ for true liberty.

PEACE THROUGH EDUCATION, DENUCLEARIZATION, DISARMAMENT, LIBERTY AND JUSTICE!

Perhaps the taxpayers would like harm reduction, why do i have to pay for enabling people to chose to do illegal activity? Oh it will reduce future medical expense. So would encouraging smoking tobacco,oh, we do that already ,to shorten life spans.
What ever happened to tough love? A few citizens die every year , last i read 27 , do to overdoses, achieved no doubt with the help of tax dollars supplying the syringe. Disgusting.
If addiction is a medical problem , why can’t our vaunted MSP fund treatment if any is available. The medical profession i thought was promoting “do No harm” as a mantra.
Oh ,well nothing will change , i see that . Who knows if the overdoses are accidental or intentional?
