Andy Sinats, editor of ecobc.org, the website of the British Columbia Environmental Network, has just come back from Wildwood where he visited legendary eco forester Merv Wilkinson, who just celebrated his 97th birthday on God’s good Earth.

For Merv Wilkinson’s Wildwood Report Card on how The Land Conservancy has mismanaged the famous Cedar eco forest for the last ten years, and for more updates on the Wildwood saga and other environmental and conservation campaigns, please refer to ecobc.org.

My family and I have known the Wilkinson family since before my first memories as a child. I have many a fond memory of time spent with all the Wilkinson’s, eating, fishing, working, playing, or blowing a hornets nest to kingdom come with Merv’s old double barrelled shot gun. I don’t recall which was worse…the spanking or the hornet’s sting as Patrick and I ran like heck towards the lake and diving in. I know this is a late Merv…Happy belated Birthday Merv! I recall that a portion of this land also has historic relevance to Brother 12. The land needs to be worked (with a soft foot and passion)….not policalized. That is a fitting legacy for the entire Wilkinson family. A genuine thank you to all the Wilkinson’s for being part of my past and part of who I am today.
