DOUG KINNA ON PRO-HST LEGAL CHALLENGE: Six business associations ‘have contributed more than $100,000 to the B.C. Liberals over the past years’

WHY ARE 6 LIBERAL-SUPPORTING BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS

FIGHTING THE FIGHT HST PETITION?

Six business associations have filed a legal challenge against the harmonized sales tax petition.

The HST is supposed to make things better for businesses by reducing administration costs related to the provincial sales tax and to shift the tax burden onto consumers.

If one is to believe Premier Gordon Campbell and Finance Minister Colin Hansen, business will pass along their savings to consumers and all will come out even.

If that is the case, then why do these busisness associations feel the need to challenge the HST petition in court?

It makes no sense unless they have absolutely no intention of passing on their savings to the consumer.

There is no evidence yet to support this conjecture other than I have never known any business association to spend thousands of dollars for no reason.

The fact that these associations have contributed more than $100,000 to the B. C. Liberals over the past years is also suspicious.

Are they doing what the Campbell Liberals are afraid to do?

The six associations that filed the claim are the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association, Mining Association of B. C., B. C. Chamber of Commerce, Coast Forest Products, Council of Forest Industries, and the Western Convenience Stores Association.

It is wrong when businesses band together to try to impose their will (or greed) on consumers.

Of course, this happens all the time but only now is it out in the open.

More than 706,000 British Columbians signed the petition.

I, for one, will be checking out the associations’ membership lists and then refusing to shop or use those businesses.

It is their right to file the court challenge and my right to shop or use businesses that I choose.

Big companies, already get millions of our tax dollars, given to them, by the government. Their greed is a bottomless pit. BC’s HST, goes directly to Harper. That’s the way Harper, and his best buddy Campbell, set it up. So, BC citizens, will not benefit. We can tell by, the big companies greed, there will be no savings for the BC consumer. What the people of BC are doing is, to find out what companies, are taking this to court, and boycotting them. They are also, going to find the businesses, that belong to the Chamber of Commerce , and boycott them, respective of which town and city. I do believe they said, to boycott all the big chain stores. They only hire people for 20 hours per week, to avoid, paying their employees benefits. That’s how the HST, operates. The HST was designed for, big business, and big business only.
