GREGORY HARTNELL: ‘Should Vander Zalm morph this movement into a new fiscally conservative political party to challenge the decadent Liberals, I will immediately join and seek to represent it in Victoria-Beacon Hill’

Sitges is a nice Catalan sea-side resort town, famous since the 1890s as a get-way for Barcelona’s art set and these days the site of the annual Bilderberg Conference.

Les Leyne reports that Premier Gordon Campbell was a first-time Bilderberg invitee at Sitges, just after debate in the Victoria legislature ended on his dreaded harmonized sales tax (HST).

Campbell’s nemesis, ex-premier Bill Vander Zalm believes that the HST is a “precursor to a global tax imposed by a new world order headquartered in Belgium,” according to Leyne.

Meanwhile, the B. C. Union of Indian Chiefs is joining in Vander Zalm’s legal challenge to the tax, which might come in the form of an injunction to stop it.

One needn’t be a conspiracy theorist, nor a disgruntled aboriginal chief, nor a militant unionist to be opposed to this unjust tax.

Vander Zalm has happily noted the phenomenal diversity of those who have already signed.

Fully 15 per cent of eligible voters in 83 of B. C.’s 85 ridings have signed the FIGHT HST petition, unprecedented numbers.

I am one of these petition signers and should Vander Zalm morph this movement into a new fiscally conservative political party to challenge the decadent Liberals, I will immediately join and seek to represent it in Victoria-Beacon Hill in the next provincial election.
