SHIVERIN’ SOCIALIST SILLINESS: While homeless freeze on Victoria streets at night, does Victoria Mayor Dean Fortin not have anything better to do than to model a kilt?

WE PAY HIM FOR THIS?

Victoria Mayor Fortin claims ‘Celtic’ background

while shilling for local kilt designer

in front page modelling job for monopoly daily.

He may have ‘Celtic’ blood, but that is not an excuse for tackiness, and with this latest cheap stunt for publicity’s sake, Victoria’s Mayor will soon rival Gord Dodd in the ticky tacky department.

There he is on the front page of the Victoria Times Colonist, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 wearing what is billed as the new ‘Victoria City of Gardens tartan,’ according to its designer.

Somehow, coming on the heals of a spectacular setback to his plans to demolish and replace Victoria’s heritage bascule Johnson Street Bridge, the Mayor’s newfound interest in his own ‘Celtic’ heritage does not ring true, but rather strikes us as nothing more than a shameless publicity stunt expressly designed by the Mayor’s ‘communications’ staff for a slow news day.

No wonder it will take the socialist mayor a decade to solve Victoria’s homelessness problems…

The man is so busy, don’t you know?
