A NUN OF JOUARE

St. Bertilla, nun of Jouare, and then first abbess of Chelles, near Paris, when that monastery was restored by queen St. Bathildis.

Great numbers flocked to the abbey during Bertilla’s rule, including many Anglo-Saxon girls and two former queens.
