HAM RADIO TOWERS CAN CAUSE CANCER

Sure, everyone will agree that there is a need for some backup amateur radio systems in the case of emergency, such as a devastating earthquake, but how many are needed?

I’m sure there are already quite a few in the Victoria area.  

What starts out as a single ham radio antenna can end up something else.  In Langford, a ham radio operator put up an antenna and none of his neighbours complained.

Now there are more than 40 transmitters on that property, with three additional huge antennas.

These towers are ugly and they reduce property value, but most important, the electromagnetic radiation emitted from them has been shown by independent scientists around the world to cause grave harm to humans.

Dr. Martin Blank of Columbia University and Dr. Henry Lai of the University of Washington, among others, have shown that prolonged exposure causes damage to DNA which can lead to cancer, and worse.

Industry Canada will intimidate municipalities into thinking there is nothing they can do to stop proliferation of these towers.  

I urge support for municipal governments in their efforts to protect the rights and the health of their citizens.  Don’t be intimidated by Industry Canada when it says there is nothing you can do.  Here in Colwood we are using our legal rights and municipal powers to fight back.
